Test Drive Meme - November/December

The last week of October into November has come and Halloween has come! With the Haunted House come up, strangely clean, too clean, INTERPOL has decided to leave it open for now while it is under surveilance. However, there has been more movement on the Ultra Guardians side as more information has continued to flow. It seems that there has been a push to discover Plates, that have been discovered in different Regions.
Now with November starting into December, the weather of Alola's daytime, average high temperatures typically range in the mid to low 80s. Evening temperatures usually dip into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Per weather records, November rainfall levels in Alola are higher than average. The ocean temperatures around Hawaii are pleasant enough for swimming which is still very pleasant. However, there's also winter-time adventures as Mount Lanakila also is opening it's Ski and Hot Springs Resort. That greedy Viren has opened up one on the mountain, and while he doesn't like you, he's inviting you all for a trip on the first of November. Which is good, because it eliminates the need for housing for your School Field Trip from the first to the seventh.
A. Arrival
Another wave of Ultra Holes have opened up over the Island, alarms have appeared and the Ultra Guardians as well as Bewear has come into play. This time, the Fallers have been asked to intercept the literally Falling people who are coming out of the holes and brief them and bring them to the Pokemon Center, ie Immigration to get checked in. Wicke is there to answer questions but a few volunteers may be there as well. The experienced Fallers can get you up to speed.
B. The Alola Community Visitors Plaza
A venue usually for tourists, new Fallers are given a chance to see the main tourist area for Alola, in order to orient and familiarize themselves with the nature of Alola and Pokemon in general. A far cry from the disorganized mob that was originally there, this time, there are people set up in the stands, ready to receive tourists and Fallers alike. Pamphlets, interviews with locals and tour guides, Ride Pokemon to take you around the island, and various other places are available. Please look around, the choice is yours. For the end of the month, it is now decorated for Halloween.
C. The Hau’oli City Markets
This is where the marketplace stands, full of fresh fruit and food. Those who are hungry can be treated to a delicious taste of Alola. Not once, not twice, but more times than they can imagine. Your coin is good here, even if it’s alien in nature. Even if you don’t have coin, you’ll be fine. Ohana. No one is left behind or forgotten. We’re not about to let people go hungry in this world. Nature’s bounty is for everyone, humans and Pokemon alike. There’s no need to steal, just ask the marketplace for some food if you are very hungry. Even if you’re shy, Miss Anela will offer you a snack. This time however, it is now serving Halloween themed treats and pumpkin treats as well.
D. Job Board
Odd Jobs have been posted here right now, thanks to the efforts of the people who have decided to help the Fallers out, and it’s also a help wanted board for those who want to earn some coin in the middle of the week before the beginning of the school year. Tasks such as bucking crates of Juice off a truck, to doing some simple paperwork in an office for a few days, and even tending Pokemon in a farm on Akala Island. The choice is yours. Get out and explore. There's also now halloween themed decorating jobs and pumpkin harvesting related things.
E. Exploring Melemele
If you wish to explore Melemele, it is a big island, and there is plenty to see. There are Forests, Honey Fields, Hot Springs, Beaches, and many other places. Melemele boasts one of the biggest cities Hau’oli City, and is the capital of Alola. Here, up at the top of a large plateau is the challenge area where Hala offers the Grand Trial. The caves are full of Pokemon, and your Pokemon are eager to prove themselves in a Trial. You can also check out Ula'ula's Ghost Town if you want, the ferry is open this time, and Acerola will show you around her library.
F. Grand Trials
The Four Kahuna are accepting challengers once more. Those who wish to participate in the sacred trials are allowed to participate in the Grand Trials once more, to earn the right of the Z. With the goals in mind, you may undertake a Trial to earn a Z-Crystal first, and then take on a Grand Trial for a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal. The choice is yours which to tackle first.
G. Pokemon School Trip
The School Trip to Mount Lanakila might come as a surprise, but there is a big, snowy mountain on Alola! Bundle up for winter time activities and hot spring shenanigans because there's plenty of both! Relax in the hot springs as snow falls gently around your body, play in the snow in the day, view amazing Snow Pokemon, explore the incredible Ice Caverns, and perhaps participate in the PokeJump Competitions which is a long-jump sledding competition with your Pokemon.
H. Melemele General Hospital
Even Angela is working extra hard to make sure everyone's prepared for the winter, and that makes time for checkups, and other such things. If you've got the sniffles, this one is for you. But also, come chat with Angela, and meet some of the more colorful visitors from Overwatch Earth.
I. Aether Labs
Come review the brand new information that makes the Ultra Guardians go on the offensive. Which means, Aether Labs is open to the science community! The scientific community heads can now access the labs, and the resources within. Under the guidance of Wicke, Faba and, Burnet, you're allowed access to Aether's resources to build and invent and upgrade and repair your own equipment.
J. Unovan Togetherness Day
Every November, the people of Unova celebrate a day where they come together together after a long harvest year, and feast with family and friends. Fallers might recognize this as Thanksgiving, but the connotation of thanking the Pokemon is strong in this world, as they came first in this world, and the people of Alola celebrate their families and their friends and their precious partners.
K. Ryme City Anniversary
In the middle of the month of November, there is the Ryme City Anniversary. A week leading up to a parade with floats and celebrations. The Fallers are invited to Ryme City and will be preparing for their first international trip. Pack your bags, we're going on an Educational Field Trip!

Renee Corbin/Afterburner | X-Men OC
Afterburner...she doesn't fall out of the Ultra Hole. Rather, she rockets out of it, the propulsion flight she uses leaving a rather obvious trail. She does a bit of an awkward dance with Bewear, which might be somewhat amusing to the viewer.
"Um! Uh! Thanks, ma'am, but I think I've got it...if you can point me in the right direction? If you don't mind?" I think you're a ma'am please don't be offended... Renee thinks. What a way to start things out...
D: Odd Jobs
Someone needed crates yanked off a truck, and Renee needs money. So while at first, the big brawny guy in charge scoffed and laughed, she got her back into it (as well as a little natural mutant strength) and is rapidly unloading crates off the truck, now, to the boss' astonishment. For some reason, she can feel eyes on her, though the reason why doesn't come to light until she takes a break, wiping off her forehead and having a drink of juice. That's when a small, elephantine Pokemon approaches slowly, trunk waving, and inquires, "Piiii?"
"Well, aren't you a cutie?" she asks it, reaching out a hand. It sidles over gingerly and leans into her, as she gives it a good scratch.
K: Ryme City Anniversary
As much as she was excited, Renee was also apprehensive. Hadn't she heard enough from some of the other trainees, or the older X-Men? They went out on an "educational excursion" and something happened. Like hidden aliens attacked, or Sentinels showed up. Something. So while she really wanted to relax and enjoy herself, she found herself so on edge that she'd even slipped on her inhibitor bracelet. It didn't really lessen her enhanced strength much, but she was less likely to pop up a shield absentmindedly with it on...
D
Thud-thud! Two heavy figures landed on top of the truck, making it rock beneath them as they rose to a standing position. Hoods and cloaks obscured their identities, though not so much that the smirk on the taller one's face was hidden.
"Trying to become a trainer, are you?"
no subject
Well, she might not have been thinking of becoming a trainer, but clearly the Pokemon had other ideas.
"So who're you then? You're missing your final third, you can't do the motto right."
no subject
The pair flipped forward, landing on the ground in front of her, then rising slowly, with hands outstretched. "Behold my Pokemon: ERIS THE LUCARIO!" Zeke said, twisting his hand to his partner. Eris folded her forearms, tossing her head back with a smirk.
"We are the ultimate team! If you want a piece of trainer actions, bite it off and chew it now, but be careful not to choke!"
no subject
"Why," she asked the Phanpy, almost rhetorically, "does everyone here talk like a super-villain? I want to know. I was the only one who fell through my Ultra Hole, it's not like I led a fuckin' conga line through it!"
Not that Renee counted herself a super-villain either, or a superhero. Just a mutant teen with a chip the size of the sunken Titanic on her shoulder, maybe.
"And what if I said I didn't give a rat's rear end about being a Pokemon trainer?" The Phanpy gave her a startled look at that, but he glared at the guy and his Lucario. No way was he going with those two!
no subject
"A rat's end?! But it's the thing to do! And you have one right there! Did you even ask him what his opinion is?!"
no subject
"So if the 'thing to do' was jump off a bridge, would you do that too, buddy?" She did glance over at the Phanpy, then.
"No, and I'll tell you why, sparkles. 'Cuz he's not mine, he's his own strong independent Pokemon who don't need no Trainer. He came over for a scratch and I scratched him. We hadn't exactly gotten past that before you showed up. No agreements yet. Nothing."
Though at that, the Phanpy gave Renee wide eyes and stomped his feet, before trotting over to her and pushing at her with his trunk. Now, she's a tough girl, but even that rocked her for a bit, and it earns the Pokemon a startled look from her.
no subject
no subject
Not that she's gonna just hand him over either if he doesn't want to go, Trainer or not. But the Phanpy seems to have it well in hand, as he trots right over to Zeke and lets go with his trunk, aimed right at the junction of leg and body.
"Uh, well, yeah, that sure was a thing," Renee admitted.
no subject
no subject
"You might be a little too aggro, there, buddy," she told said Phanpy, pulling another bottle of cold juice out of her lunch bag and moving over to press it against the back of Zeke's neck, holding a finger up to Eris as the Lucario loomed. "Listen, I'm trying to help and I didn't even get him into this mess in the first place--he did it all by himself!"
Mostly by saying he was gonna steal the Pokemon, but Renee guessed that wasn't here or there at the moment.

"Dude. I just fell through a hole. Sure, Fallers orientation said I needed to find a partner and crap, but I don't know how this sort of thing works! If this was a budding partnership, they need to give me a better sign! And so do you," she said, poking the Phanpy in the tip of his trunk. The little snot had the audacity to turn it into a bro-fist.
"He apparently has other ideas, anyway!" Maybe putting the cold on his forehead would be better, so Renee switched it to that location. The Phanpy practically danced in place at her words, stomping his little feet.
"Shit! Stompy, haven't you done enough? Cool your jets already!" Well it's over now, now he's got an actual name. He's not gonna leave now, Renee knows how this works.
no subject
no subject
"Thought you were doing me a favor, huh? Well, next time you'll think better of it. I was just trying to do a job. You know, 'cuz some people need to eat?!"
Though now she glanced over at Stompy. "Great, another mouth to feed, come to think of it."

K - Assuming CR
He'd also heard descriptions of a big, snowy mountain which he'd heard of something similar back home called Ghorovas Rift though he hadn't been there yet. The descriptions were about the same though and he hoped to at least see the place at some point.
Going through the streets now, the advisor was quiet and was avoiding people colliding into him bearing some sort of sweets or another. Soon enough though, his green eyes spotted a familiar face in the crowd.
"Ah Renee, there you are. I've been looking for you."
no subject
Not that she had a clue as to why he'd be looking for her at the moment--she'd managed to get back into school, which was why she'd been preparing for a field trip in the first place. At least unloading freight paid well, when the local Machoke was laid up or on vacation.
"Settling in all right?" Renee wasn't sure she was, but hey, the weather was nice, which was more than could be said for either Chicago or New York at this time of year...
no subject
Ignis knew that she liked coffee too and had walked right past because he didn't know how long it was going to be from the time that he went by the place to actually locating her. The coffee might've gotten cold in that span of time and unlike his beloved Ebony in a can, this kind required being hot for more flavour. He supposed he could've used their device, but it was such a beautiful day to walk around and see things without his head down and missing everything.
no subject
Her eyes widened at his next words, though. Renee swallowed. "Is it that time these days already? Sheesh, how time flies. But yeah, that sounds amazing. I haven't had one of those in a while--they're seasonal, back where I came from." Which is why she'd said what she did.
If she only could follow Ignis' thoughts, Renee'd even agree with him. This place was like the stories she'd heard of Hawaii on her world, given lush and glorious life. So she could appreciate--even if she didn't know--that he hadn't bothered using a device to get a hold of her.
no subject
Ignis had no idea, but the coffees had looked good and had inquired as to what the drinks were. This one could ask around for help and directions if he needed to. "Shall we then?" Stepping back, Ignis moved so that Renee had room.
Coffee sounded so good, and it had been a long time since he'd had a good can of Ebony. That wasn't here so he'd make do with what was available.
no subject
"Yeah, I could go for some coffee. Even if it's cold brew or something." Actually some blended frozen coffee--pumpkin spice or something else, even? That sounded really good. "Maybe a snack, too." Not that Renee had actually been using her powers lately, but it was always good to be prepared, or so she felt. "So have you been up to anything? I started Pokemon school, and I've been doing some work down on the docks in my spare time." Not that there were copious amounts of free time for her--she did keep up with her homework, after all.
no subject
He nodded. "I do believe it's hot coffee and they do have slices of cakes and pies." He was pretty sure most of those were pumpkin themed too and he did see someone with chocolate chocolate chip cookies with an orange filling which looked to be like frosting.
As they walked, he shook his head. "I've enrolled and should be attending classes shortly." As for spare money he wasn't adverse to odd jobs, he'd done them to get the gil up to pay for the Regalia long ago after all. Then there were all of those monster hunts along the way.
"Might I inquire as to work you're doing on the docks?"
no subject
"Hot coffee on a hot day...I don't know, but they can probably do something to it. They did stuff like that at home." But Renee still liked coffee. And the mention of other pastry didn't deter her in the least, either.
"Suppose I'll be seeing you in class too, then," she said. "Can I copy your notes?" That was meant as a joke, and Renee chuckled a little as she shook her head. "I'm joking, school's important enough that I do treat that seriously. The docks, though--mostly I'm working alongside a couple of Machamps, directing them pushing freight around." She just was also helping them do it, but she wasn't about to mention that part.
no subject
He wasn't sure if the shop had a way to ice it, surely they did but he wasn't one hundred percent sure so Ignis didn't comment about that.
Moving with her, he smiled at her question. "You might learn far more than you need to if you do that." Ignis was meticulous with his notes and jotted down details others had found tedious and unnecessary in the past.
Ignis hadn't found any pokemon to work with as of yet, but he wondered how to befriend them. Animals back home were killed for use and if they'd been aggressive. These..were a different sort altogether.
no subject
"Yeah? All information is useful, though--'least that's what one of my teachers back at the Institute always told me, you know?" One could never be sure when something that seemed trivial was the thing that turned the tide of battle, after all.
Renee hadn't been lucky enough to find a partner yet either, but there were a lot of them to be seen, even as they walked to the coffee shop, and she was definitely watching. "You have any ideas about a Pokemon partner you might want? Wish I could tell you I had a clue," she said with a wry chuckle.
