Test Drive Meme - November/December

The last week of October into November has come and Halloween has come! With the Haunted House come up, strangely clean, too clean, INTERPOL has decided to leave it open for now while it is under surveilance. However, there has been more movement on the Ultra Guardians side as more information has continued to flow. It seems that there has been a push to discover Plates, that have been discovered in different Regions.

Now with November starting into December, the weather of Alola's daytime, average high temperatures typically range in the mid to low 80s. Evening temperatures usually dip into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Per weather records, November rainfall levels in Alola are higher than average. The ocean temperatures around Hawaii are pleasant enough for swimming which is still very pleasant. However, there's also winter-time adventures as Mount Lanakila also is opening it's Ski and Hot Springs Resort. That greedy Viren has opened up one on the mountain, and while he doesn't like you, he's inviting you all for a trip on the first of November. Which is good, because it eliminates the need for housing for your School Field Trip from the first to the seventh.

A. Arrival

Another wave of Ultra Holes have opened up over the Island, alarms have appeared and the Ultra Guardians as well as Bewear has come into play. This time, the Fallers have been asked to intercept the literally Falling people who are coming out of the holes and brief them and bring them to the Pokemon Center, ie Immigration to get checked in. Wicke is there to answer questions but a few volunteers may be there as well. The experienced Fallers can get you up to speed.

B. The Alola Community Visitors Plaza

A venue usually for tourists, new Fallers are given a chance to see the main tourist area for Alola, in order to orient and familiarize themselves with the nature of Alola and Pokemon in general. A far cry from the disorganized mob that was originally there, this time, there are people set up in the stands, ready to receive tourists and Fallers alike. Pamphlets, interviews with locals and tour guides, Ride Pokemon to take you around the island, and various other places are available. Please look around, the choice is yours. For the end of the month, it is now decorated for Halloween.

C. The Hau’oli City Markets

This is where the marketplace stands, full of fresh fruit and food. Those who are hungry can be treated to a delicious taste of Alola. Not once, not twice, but more times than they can imagine. Your coin is good here, even if it’s alien in nature. Even if you don’t have coin, you’ll be fine. Ohana. No one is left behind or forgotten. We’re not about to let people go hungry in this world. Nature’s bounty is for everyone, humans and Pokemon alike. There’s no need to steal, just ask the marketplace for some food if you are very hungry. Even if you’re shy, Miss Anela will offer you a snack. This time however, it is now serving Halloween themed treats and pumpkin treats as well.

D. Job Board

Odd Jobs have been posted here right now, thanks to the efforts of the people who have decided to help the Fallers out, and it’s also a help wanted board for those who want to earn some coin in the middle of the week before the beginning of the school year. Tasks such as bucking crates of Juice off a truck, to doing some simple paperwork in an office for a few days, and even tending Pokemon in a farm on Akala Island. The choice is yours. Get out and explore. There's also now halloween themed decorating jobs and pumpkin harvesting related things.

E. Exploring Melemele

If you wish to explore Melemele, it is a big island, and there is plenty to see. There are Forests, Honey Fields, Hot Springs, Beaches, and many other places. Melemele boasts one of the biggest cities Hau’oli City, and is the capital of Alola. Here, up at the top of a large plateau is the challenge area where Hala offers the Grand Trial. The caves are full of Pokemon, and your Pokemon are eager to prove themselves in a Trial. You can also check out Ula'ula's Ghost Town if you want, the ferry is open this time, and Acerola will show you around her library.

F. Grand Trials

The Four Kahuna are accepting challengers once more. Those who wish to participate in the sacred trials are allowed to participate in the Grand Trials once more, to earn the right of the Z. With the goals in mind, you may undertake a Trial to earn a Z-Crystal first, and then take on a Grand Trial for a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal. The choice is yours which to tackle first.

G. Pokemon School Trip

The School Trip to Mount Lanakila might come as a surprise, but there is a big, snowy mountain on Alola! Bundle up for winter time activities and hot spring shenanigans because there's plenty of both! Relax in the hot springs as snow falls gently around your body, play in the snow in the day, view amazing Snow Pokemon, explore the incredible Ice Caverns, and perhaps participate in the PokeJump Competitions which is a long-jump sledding competition with your Pokemon.

H. Melemele General Hospital

Even Angela is working extra hard to make sure everyone's prepared for the winter, and that makes time for checkups, and other such things. If you've got the sniffles, this one is for you. But also, come chat with Angela, and meet some of the more colorful visitors from Overwatch Earth.

I. Aether Labs

Come review the brand new information that makes the Ultra Guardians go on the offensive. Which means, Aether Labs is open to the science community! The scientific community heads can now access the labs, and the resources within. Under the guidance of Wicke, Faba and, Burnet, you're allowed access to Aether's resources to build and invent and upgrade and repair your own equipment.

J. Unovan Togetherness Day

Every November, the people of Unova celebrate a day where they come together together after a long harvest year, and feast with family and friends. Fallers might recognize this as Thanksgiving, but the connotation of thanking the Pokemon is strong in this world, as they came first in this world, and the people of Alola celebrate their families and their friends and their precious partners.

K. Ryme City Anniversary

In the middle of the month of November, there is the Ryme City Anniversary. A week leading up to a parade with floats and celebrations. The Fallers are invited to Ryme City and will be preparing for their first international trip. Pack your bags, we're going on an Educational Field Trip!

B. Community Center

Mirio Togata was not a man to be deterred by the state of affairs.

Even after everything that happened, everything that had gone down, he was still keeping his head high. And when the portal opened, and someone needed help, he had rushed to their aid.

And then, he found himself in another world.

He laughed a little, shaking his head as he had fallen without any way to save himself from the skies when the bear had caught him, brought him to safety.

'Just like a hero' thought Mirio to himself as they landed. "Thank you," he said to Bewear as he was then checked in and shown to the Community Center where he was reading up on the islands from the huge tourist info boards.

"So... Pokemon huh," said Mirio thoughtfully. "Sounds amazing! If I'm going to get stronger, then I need to cooperate with everyone here. Because... if I'm going to still work towards my dream of saving people, then I need to keep my focus."

His fist clenched and he thrust it into the air. "Yeah! Just wait Izuku, I'm gonna be back before you know it!"

F. Grand Trials

Mirio had indeed been true to his word, and looked into the Grand Trials. For this, he was training extra hard with his Pokemon, a Riolu who was having trouble with its Aura. "Breathe in and out," said Mirio, holding his pose as he and the Riolu held their Tai Chi pose. "One of the prime tenants of controlling your Quirk back home is focus. Focus, hard work, diligence and practice Riolu."

"Ri," replied Riolu.

"We'll beat the Grand Trial, just you wait!" Exclaimed Mirio. "You, me..." and he looked over at the sleeping owl next to him. "And maybe Rowlet too if he wakes up."

Rowlet hooted in his sleep. "I wonder what he's dreaming about. I know Champion Ash lent him to train with us but..."

Rowlet rolled several feet into a divot and lay there upside down. It was still sleeping. "Doesn't seem like a champion winning Pokemon huh?"

"Ri," said Riolu with a laugh.

"But neither do we! C'mon Riolu, let's keep training!"

J. Unovan Togetherness Day

Mirio was really actually into this. He had attended a Thanksgiving with his friends back in the past, the American Holiday bringing its feast like qualities, but this time, the tone of the Togetherness Day was more... reverent. Respectful. Stories of how people and Pokemon were shared, amazing tales of how people worked together were shared. And a meal prepared for Pokemon and Humans alike was served.

It was truly something.

"This is amazing," said Mirio. "I've never really experienced this before. I wish my friends from home were here..."

"'Sup, Bewear? Lookin' good!"

And walking past Mirio was... a duck. Much shorter than him in aviator gear and a metal leg. She, then, stopped and looked up at him, blinking.

"Sheesh, Storkules, no need to blend in, big guy!"

...that's not Storkules.

The talking duck was actually NOT the weirdest thing that Mirio had seen. After all, have you seen Principal Nehzu?

"Ah, sorry ma'am, you might be confusing me with someone else!" Exclaimed Mirio with a laugh, rubbing his head embarrassed. "Storkules huh? Sounds like a fine hero though! I'm Mirio Togata. I must say ma'am, your feathers are very glossy, do you use Brilliance Shampoo from back home?"

He's assuming of course, she's a duck who has a Quirk but looks can be deceiving.

"Ha! No, no, but believe me, it's taken me ages to get these things back in shape." Della said. "Being stuck on the Moon'll do that to ya. Trust me, not fun."

"On the moon?" echoed Mirio, surprised. "There hasn't been anyone on the moon since...!" And a dawning sense of realization hit him.

"Oh! You must be from yet another world! My apologies ma'am, I didn't realize that you weren't a duck with a Quirk." Mirio bowed. "Sorry for assuming things. Back home, talking animals would be animals with superpowers."

"No need to apologize. Trust me, being mistaken for one of you is a lot better than getting mistaken for a Pokemon." Della said "Those balls hurt. Especially when you're not prepared for them!"

G. Acerola's Library

Andre has been trying very, very hard to find a book he can read. None of these make any sense to him! If they've been receiving people from all over, there should be some books he can read, right? Something to explain this better...
Should he ask where the foreign books are?

... even just flipping through the books and looking at illustrations like a child, he can't make much meaning out of the sights depicted. It's like he's been transported to some world of legends, or he's having a very long, very strange dream.

What strange creatures... what strange machines...

H. Melemele General Hospital

If everything else is far beyond anything he'd experienced before, unless this was a terribly cruel dream, dangling vain hopes before him, he might be able to save the vision in his remaining eye. That way, he can still fight, he can keep his word and stay always by Oscar's side to keep her safe, he can better fulfill his purpose.

"Are you the physician?" he asked quietly.

Dr. Angela, was it?

"I promise I won't be throwing anything at you, ma'am," said Mirio with a sheepish grin. "But yeah, I saw someone in trouble being sucked into one of those, Ultra Holes was it? And I just reacted. I mean, how can I save a million people without just reacting?"

He smiled a little, before adding, "I can't stop helping, even in the situation I'm in. So when I heard that this world needed helping, I decided I needed to help out. Immigration's just sorting out my papers now, and my housing but I've decided to start training for those Grand Trials as soon as possible."

Mirio laughed. "It could say I've poked-the-mon right into the corner pocket of the situation!"

Such a bad pun.

Had this been just about anyone else in the Duck-McDuck Clan, they would have groaned at that pun. Della just laughs at it.

"'Poked-the-mon'! That's a good one!"

"Man finally! Someone who gets my jokes!" Exclaimed Mirio, ecstatic that finally someone found his jokes funny.

"I'm so glad I'm here. I can do good again. Though I wonder if I need to renew my Hero Licence here..."

“Hero License? Wow, you get licenses for that? Ha, you might, but I wouldn’t worry - you’ll be recruited into the Ultra Guardians soon enough!”

Serena was there at the Library, checking something that day when she heard the familiar Kalos accent. Turning at the voice, she cleared her throat. "Excuse me?" she asked, and cleared her throat as she swapped to her native Kalosian which would be French in his language. "Did you need help sir?" she asked in said language.

"I've been training for it for the last three years, and I was doing a study with Sir, Sir Nighteye," said Mirio, his voice trailing off a little at the memory of the man... in the hospital bed... before he brightened up.

"The Ultra Guardians? They sound great! I'd love to join the local heroes if they'll let a hero in training join them. Though, to be perfectly honest, well... I lost my Quirk. So... it's going to take a while until I gain it back. If I ever do... but I'll do my best, if I'm expected to find a Pokemon Partner first."

Della noted that look on his face before the topic change.

“Having Quirks - those are superpowers, right? - aren’t a requirement. Honestly, most of who we got are normal people with Pokémon! I mean, sure, there’s this one guy who flies around in armor and this one girl in a cute pink outfit, but the rest of us are practically normal.”

“Except for that Spider-Guy.”

Mirio did brighten up at that. "Really? That's actually a relief to be honest. I mean... to be honest, my Quirk isn't all that impressive even if I made it strong if I were to be all that honest. I'll have to keep that in mind."

Spider-Guy he kinda thought he recalled that description somewhere, but the name escaped him. Mirio wasn't much of a movie watcher or a comic book reader anyhow, so the name Spider-man would have missed him completely, and a guy in armor could have been anyone. And pink outfit? Dime a dozen back home.

"I guess I should start at the basics then, and enroll in that Pokemon School. They're doing battle training and other sorts of school stuff, so I should probably figure out where I'm attending first. I was a third year before things happened."

“I’m sure you’d do well in school. ‘Sides, I’m a mother of triplets and schoolwork is boring.”

The look on Della’s face suggests that she’s only there because she kinda has to.

And she couldn’t do anything else without driving people loony.

Angela had word that a new patient from another world had come to see her, something urgent considering his condition. Arriving, she nodded. "Yes, I'm Angela Zieger, I'm on loan from Overwatch."

She took one look at the man and his state and clucked her tongue. "Oh my," she said with a sigh. "This will not do at all. You are in serious need of treatment Mr...?" She checked her chart. "Mr. Andre Grandier?" She quirked a eyebrow at the name. Andre Grandier? As in the man of the Rose of...? Well, would wonders never cease.

She took a page and held out the clipboard for him to look over with his good eye. "I'm afraid that to continue, I will have to ask you to sign a patient authorization form, because what I do here while medical, is a technology far beyond normal levels. But suffice to say it, after checking your chart, I can save your eye."

"I'm sure school can be boring when it needs to be, but it can be fun too." chuckled Mirio. "This place can't be boring stuff all the time!"

Which was true. Field trips, outside of the class work, etc.

“Eh, I guess. Wasn’t much of a studious girl away.” Della said, shrugging. “But, hey, it gets us through the day.”

"Maybe what folks like us need are hands on work," said Mirio thoughtfully. "I did a lot of work study, with pro heroes."

“Hands on, huh? Now I like the sounds of that!” Della said, pondering it.

"It's a good way to learn after all. Some people are more physically adept at learning by doing things." said Mirio. "Like me!"

“Well, then, maybe it’s time for this old duck to learn new tricks!”

Those were the first familiar words he's heard since coming here...!

He dropped the book to the floor, regrettably, but he was just so stunned to hear something so familiar here, in this place where everything is so unworldly and confusing and alien, that simple question in his native language, he was caught up in a whirlwind of nostalgia, this little girl... the curl to her hair, too, while the colour is not so brilliant as his Oscar (no one matches Oscar, in his eye, to be fair), even that brings him back to his youth!

He rushed to her, stumbling from the shock or maybe the poor vision or both, and fell to his knees (the sword in its hilt clatters), weeping. The action was enough to shake loose that curling hair and reveal a scar where his left eye ought to be...

It was hard to make anything out other than a pitiful 'Merci, Mademoiselle!!!' but he's deeply grateful to have someone he could speak with!
