Late October/Early November Test Drive Meme!

It's late October. After the Team Rainbow Rocket attack, life has slowly come back to normal. The people have relaxed for the most part, but there's a sense of unease knowing that Alola was under attack from Team Rainbow Rocket. But the people of Alola are grateful for the Ultra Guardians and have redoubled their efforts to accept the Fallers and help them with whatever there needs to be. To this end, a new doctor has been instated in Alola General, the first to have come willingly through the Ultra Holes. A relief worker from another Earth named Dr. Angela Mercy. She'll take care of your needs.

Oh also, Acerola has begun campaigning for the local spooky day of Halloween, as the Ghost Pokemon have seemingly multiplied on Alola! With more and more spirits, Greedy Rapooh, her main Pokemon, has started showing up everywhere on the island to make a fuss along with a ton of Ghost Pokemon to make mischief! Still, life goes on in Alola, and on the 31st, the island will be decorated for treats, and a small mini-festival for the day as people celebrate the ghost pokemon.

A. Arrival

Another wave of Ultra Holes have opened up over the Island, alarms have appeared and the Ultra Guardians as well as Bewear has come into play. This time, the Fallers have been asked to intercept the literally Falling people who are coming out of the holes and brief them and bring them to the Pokemon Center, ie Immigration to get checked in. Wicke is there to answer questions but a few volunteers may be there as well. The experienced Fallers can get you up to speed.

B. The Alola Community Visitors Plaza

A venue usually for tourists, new Fallers are given a chance to see the main tourist area for Alola, in order to orient and familiarize themselves with the nature of Alola and Pokemon in general. A far cry from the disorganized mob that was originally there, this time, there are people set up in the stands, ready to receive tourists and Fallers alike. Pamphlets, interviews with locals and tour guides, Ride Pokemon to take you around the island, and various other places are available. Please look around, the choice is yours. For the end of the month, it is now decorated for Halloween.

C. The Hau’oli City Markets

This is where the marketplace stands, full of fresh fruit and food. Those who are hungry can be treated to a delicious taste of Alola. Not once, not twice, but more times than they can imagine. Your coin is good here, even if it’s alien in nature. Even if you don’t have coin, you’ll be fine. Ohana. No one is left behind or forgotten. We’re not about to let people go hungry in this world. Nature’s bounty is for everyone, humans and Pokemon alike. There’s no need to steal, just ask the marketplace for some food if you are very hungry. Even if you’re shy, Miss Anela will offer you a snack. This time however, it is now serving Halloween themed treats and pumpkin treats as well.

D. Job Board

Odd Jobs have been posted here right now, thanks to the efforts of the people who have decided to help the Fallers out, and it’s also a help wanted board for those who want to earn some coin in the middle of the week before the beginning of the school year. Tasks such as bucking crates of Juice off a truck, to doing some simple paperwork in an office for a few days, and even tending Pokemon in a farm on Akala Island. The choice is yours. Get out and explore. There's also now halloween themed decorating jobs and pumpkin harvesting related things.

E. Exploring Melemele

If you wish to explore Melemele, it is a big island, and there is plenty to see. There are Forests, Honey Fields, Hot Springs, Beaches, and many other places. Melemele boasts one of the biggest cities Hau’oli City, and is the capital of Alola. Here, up at the top of a large plateau is the challenge area where Hala offers the Grand Trial. The caves are full of Pokemon, and your Pokemon are eager to prove themselves in a Trial. You can also check out Ula'ula's Ghost Town if you want, the ferry is open this time, and Acerola will show you around her library.

F. Grand Trials

The Four Kahuna are accepting challengers once more. Those who wish to participate in the sacred trials are allowed to participate in the Grand Trials once more, to earn the right of the Z. With the goals in mind, you may undertake a Trial to earn a Z-Crystal first, and then take on a Grand Trial for a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal. The choice is yours which to tackle first.

G. Acerola's Library/The Ghost Town

Home of Acerola's Library, Greedy Rapooh's tombstone and graveyard and the Grand Trial of Ula'ula, this spooky little town is a historical site and a place of history. You can find amazing things in this place, and it connects to the Desert. Yes, a literal desert where you can travel to an Oasis and meet the Tapu of the location. There's also a fantasticly high amount of Alolan Meowth here as well. It's a Dark Type paradise.

H. Melemele General Hospital

After the battle and maybe just for a checkup, all Fallers and everyone else would be introduced to a new unique Doctor that has arrived. Apparently, on her side, these Ultra Holes have been opening up on a regular basis where she has been stationed, so she was sent through. Deciding her best option was to set up as a Doctor, Dr. Angela Mercy is now the Fallers Primary Physician. While her healing is both traditional and literally near-magical nanotech healing, and she can revive you or your Pokemon from a near-KO state, she prefers not to be on the front lines unless truly required. But as a member of the relief team from another Earth, she vows to help everyone with their troubles. You can talk to Angela any time you need, even just for a visit.

I. Aether Labs

Now that there's new critical data brought in by Courtney's spies into Team Rainbow Rocket, the Ultra Guardians can go on the offensive. Which means, Aether Labs is open to the science community! The scientific community heads can now access the labs, and the resources within. Under the guidance of Wicke, Faba and, Burnet, you're allowed access to Aether's resources to build and invent and upgrade and repair your own equipment.

Wes wanted information. It was natural to want that sort of thing, after all. Now that he was free(???), he wanted to learn. To understand something about this place.

Usually, Wes isn't one for talking but he was always listening and he had a good short-term memory. Seeing Kinro, he gives a nod to acknowledge the familiar face he's seen around.

"Thousand... stories? There are more books than that." Wes always took things literally. It was a pain talking to him sometimes. "... I wanted to learn about Alola."

Kinro nodded curtly as he settled into the building. He wasn't used to such a dwelling, but he could appreciate how homely it was, and how rich the building felt as both a dwelling and a place of learning. "I see," he said. "I hadn't seen many stories here before."

Moving towards a bookshelf, he picked a book out of the bookshelves and opened it up, peering at the writing for a moment. "... what language is this?" he asked curiously.

The language of the book he was looking at was Kalosian, a equivalent of real world French, but to him, it would look like jumbled up English, something he hadn't seen before. Kinro, had only learned Japanese before, and only had begun to learn how to write recently over the last year before becoming literate. "Are there any books in Japanese?"

"It's not Alolan." Or whatever the equivalent name of the language they're using here is. The words look similar to Wes, given he's a native from Orre/Arizona.

The man stares at it for a while before he shrugs.

"I don't know... maybe..." He knows Japanese. At least he thinks he knows. He's been to the equivalent of Johto before.

Wes looks around and skims the book.

"What... sort of book... do you like?"

A loaded question but...

"Where I come from... there's no books," said Kinro bluntly. "The tradition of reading has only been redeveloped, as everything has been passed down through the 100 stories through the Priestess throughout the last 3700 years of human civilization since the petrification of society."

Sitting down with a few books in his lap, Kinro started to go through them as he explained. "In my time, in my world, humanity was turned to stone. I am the descendant of people who were in space at the time of the event, and thus, was born with no knowledge of this event."

His hand traced across the page, finding a book of modern Kantonese. "Before 9 months ago... I couldn't even read."

"... That's what you mean by 100 stories." Wes frowns. He knows the thousands of gigabytes (petrabytes?) that goes through Team Cipher's base alone. How could 100 stories possibly hold all the information of human civilisation.

Wes looks at the man and frowns.

"... That sounds... lonely. You can't... have a lot in space." Or at least, he thinks you can't.

"... But you can read now. So what do you want to read?" Wes asks, repeating his earlier question in a different way. It seems like much like reading is a new development for Kinro, talking is new for Wes.

Kinro traced his fingers across the Kantonese words for a moment, before saying, "Perhaps... I would like to read about how this land came to be first. To start at the beginning. I learned how my land came to be from Senku. Perhaps a foundation of science will teach me more about this land."

He looked up at Wes. "My name is Kinro. It means Gold."

"... History. Science. Right. Will find..." Wes almost turns to leave to thumb through the books but he catches the look. The man frowns.

"My designation is XD002. It means that I am the second result of the Shadow Pokemon project."

"XD," Kinro said, nodding.

"I have learned about Pokemon, but what are 'Shadow Pokemon'?" asked Kinro, adjusting his glasses.

"Shadow Pokemon... are like me. When humans lock up a Pokemon's heart... when you make them angry... They get more powerful from the pain. They stop growing but they lose their inhibitions..."

"They can be cured but... the XD series is supposed to have their hearts in shadow forever..."

Wes balls his fist. "... Shadow Pokemon are... Not human. Not Pokemon. Weapons."

"I don't quite follow... but if something clouds the emotions, one doesn't... become themselves. I can understand that." said Kinro.

"There is much to learn about this world, and so much science. It's taking a lot not to get overwhelmed by all of it."

"... Hard to... explain... but that's the gist. ... I hardly understand it myself. Just... torture. They torture Pokemon to be weapons," Wes shakes his head. He doesn't want to think about it. Back to the other statement.

"... Need to... be slow with science and be patient. Learning takes time..."
