Late August/September Test Drive! THE SECOND

After the Dynamax Raid Battle, the Islands are Busier than Ever. There's more things to do, School is beginning, and people are starting to work into fall. The Music Festival is upon them in a few days, and there is a Harvest Festival in the early part of September, there is much to do and prepare for. But there is many things to do, with the Pokemon School opening up. And there is much for you Fallers to prepare for, as a new wave of Fallers arrive on the islands!

A. Arrival

Another wave of Ultra Holes have opened up over the Island, alarms have appeared and the Ultra Guardians as well as Bewear has come into play. This time, the Fallers have been asked to intercept the literally Falling people who are coming out of the holes and brief them and bring them to the Pokemon Center, ie Immigration to get checked in. Wicke is there to answer questions but a few volunteers may be there as well. The experienced Fallers can get you up to speed.

B. The Alola Community Visitors Plaza

A venue usually for tourists, new Fallers are given a chance to see the main tourist area for Alola, in order to orient and familiarize themselves with the nature of Alola and Pokemon in general. A far cry from the disorganized mob that was originally there, this time, there are people set up in the stands, ready to receive tourists and Fallers alike. Pamphlets, interviews with locals and tour guides, Ride Pokemon to take you around the island, and various other places are available. Please look around, the choice is yours.

C. The Hau’oli City Markets

This is where the marketplace stands, full of fresh fruit and food. Those who are hungry can be treated to a delicious taste of Alola. Not once, not twice, but more times than they can imagine. Your coin is good here, even if it’s alien in nature. Even if you don’t have coin, you’ll be fine. Ohana. No one is left behind or forgotten. We’re not about to let people go hungry in this world. Nature’s bounty is for everyone, humans and Pokemon alike. There’s no need to steal, just ask the marketplace for some food if you are very hungry. Even if you’re shy, Miss Anela will offer you a snack.

D. Job Board

Odd Jobs have been posted here right now, thanks to the efforts of the people who have decided to help the Fallers out, and it’s also a help wanted board for those who want to earn some coin in the middle of the week before the beginning of the school year. Tasks such as bucking crates of Juice off a truck, to doing some simple paperwork in an office for a few days, and even tending Pokemon in a farm on Akala Island. The choice is yours. Get out and explore.

E. Exploring Melemele

If you wish to explore Melemele, it is a big island, and there is plenty to see. There are Forests, Honey Fields, Hot Springs, Beaches, and many other places. Melemele boasts one of the biggest cities Hau’oli City, and is the capital of Alola. Here, up at the top of a large plateau is the challenge area where Hala offers the Grand Trial. The caves are full of Pokemon, and your Pokemon are eager to prove themselves in a Trial.

F. Pokemon School

The Pokemon School has begun to open its doors, and the school is opened up officially. Early enrollment has begun, and you can prepare to start studying. Also, Professor Burnet may be looking for people to start assisting in the research for Pokemon. This time, Enrollment has begun and you may enter your name, age, and grade and tour the school. Students such as Mallow, Lana, Kiawe and others are here to give you a tour of the school, and the Adult Learning Classes are upon us as well. Researchers from all over the world are coming to set up base in the Pokemon School as well, to study the Ultra Hole Phenomenons.

G. Harvest Festival Preparations

The fields of Melemele, Akala Island, Ula'Ula and Poni are bursting with produce and it's in need of help this year. Succulent fruits, delicious vegetables, spicy radishes, all of it is in need of harvest. The Kahunas ask for your aid in picking the fruits, and helping out with your Pokemon and help. There is several things to do this year, and much to do it in, with the blessings of the festival to be held on Poni Island this year.

H. The Music Festival

Musicians from all over the world are coming to Ula'ula in order to play music, and you're invited! You can play music, watch the people enjoy the sights, it's a wonderful festival for all. This week-long festival lasts for a good solid while, and there's various musicians from all over the world coming to this place. Please, soak in the musical styling of all of the international musical bands of the world.

Just before it all starts Shay raises an eyebrow, not sure how to process that much aside from, "I'm not trying to bite off much more than I can chew here."

And then the two start forward. The Hawlucha starts with a Karate Chop aimed at the fire horse and well, Shay has to contend against the 'staff'. With the way he shifts to a low kick when his own initial blow gets blocked by the improvised weapon, there's some evidence of skill from him here...

... But when he still doesn't land anything and Adora counters at him, what also might become obvious is that Shay doesn't have anything close to the same crazy amount of formal training under his belt.

"Laying it on the table, s'all," replied Adora, using that counter as a momentum to work at sweeping Shay off his feet with the end of her staff -- a move that knocked Kyle off his feet several times in the past. Hopefully he can think fast.

Hawlucha's Karate Chop was met with a Low Kick, something surprising from Fred who had picked up a move to counter its pure Fire weakness, and it clashed head on before Adora barked, "Ember!"

Fred waved his mane and fired several bolts of flame at the bird as she went on the offensive to press Shay backwards to try and topple him off his feet.

Typing-wise, not very effective on a flying-type. But between Fred's strength and Hawlucha's defense? That hurts.

Shay's not quite fast enough between reminding his partner to use- "Detect!" -before going down with with an oof. But quickly he rolls just out of range then flips back onto his feet.

"Then Tackle!"

Adora closed the gap, moving to strike Shay across the middle with her staff in a close-in attack as she called out, "Dodge it, Fred!"

Fred narrowly escaped as he reared back and fired Ember back at Hawlucha, sending bolts of flame at the bird again.

One of those embers singes onto one of the bird's wings and Shay takes that blow... with his forearm before he attempts to use that moment to shove at the wood and then try pushing it up and away from her grip.

And then following a split-second glance at the other fight... "Just press forward, Karate Chop...!" Shay shouts as contrary to his own command, he personally throws out a punch at Adora's torso.

The double impact resounded as both attacks landed, and Adora felt the blow impact against her torso. Twisting to avoid as much damage as possible, she landed hard but rolled backwards, losing her grip on the weapon as it scattered to the side.

Karate Chop landed, dealing considerable damage due to type as Fred stumbled backwards as she and Fred were on the defensive, but not out as she wiped her lips. "That was pretty good," she said, reminded of her friends at the Force Training Area.

All of this is radically different for him actually. People don't hold a fierce sparring session while trying to win a Pokemon battle at the same time every day.

But as different as it is, it's in a good way. The adrenaline rush is the same, but his mind remains sharply focused on the physical demands of the fight. No cards, no packs of degenerate duelists bearing down on him, ~~nothing about what he's lost~~, just what's happening within the moment now.

Just right now.

"I do have a few tricks of my own making." he quips back, advancing just enough that Adora can't immediately recover that improvised staff. Then he whistles for Hawlucha to come back over and take a quick breath of respite from fighting Fred- and also for strategy talk. "... Avoid those flames, stay close in. Got it?"

A nod from the winded bird.

Adora grinned despite her ache, as she gestured Fred closer and she rubbed his side. "Ready for round two?"

Fred knickered as she grinned. "Attaboy. Okay, get in there and use Quick Attack."

She sent him off to move towards his position as she stood up. "Okay, let's do this," she said, not even going for her staff and grinning as she assumed a open handed fighting style, one that was common to Etheria Horde fighters -- low, crouched, sort of a wrestler style.

Indeed. While Shay rushes forward with simply another punch, depending on how Adora reacts to it now could lead to plenty of different responses from him that may or may not catch her off guard.

Meanwhile, Shay's style of training seems to have done some good because within the instant before 60+ pounds of pony smack into them, his Hawlucha manages to time a hard counter with yet another Karate Chop. And type-interaction between moves impacting with each other can be an important difference between winning or losing a battle.

The Karate Chop drops between Fred's shoulder blades and he collapses from the strike, legs splayed out as he dizzily staggers from the attack. The heavy blow left him stunned, wide open for a counter as Adora was caught by Shay's roundhouse kick which she barely had moments to react to.

Fast! She realized, when Shay was motivated close in, and she was at a disadvantage unarmed.

And the key thing in Shay's style that he's been passing onto his partner is momentum. Hawlucha flips up with a quick flap of their wings and then slams into Fred with a Tackle.

As for Shay, the roundhouse kick immediately morphs into a chop, which then shifts into what would have been yet another punch given with all his might, but instead is an open-palmed strike meant to mostly shove Adora backward because his aim is-

"That. Would be a serious strike in your solar plexus." Yield.

Adora coughed and grinned a little, standing up as she rubbed her chest. "Yeah, you got me. Good one. Good match. That'll teach me to neglect my unarmed."

Fred had gone down from his attack as she went over to him and rubbed his cheek as he stirred a little. "You okay buddy?"

Fred whinnied but he was still conscious from the attack, as Adora reached into her pack and pulled out a berry for him to eat. "Here you go. Eat up."

Sitting down cross-legged, she said, "That was some pretty good moves there. I think I've been training and relying on the sword too much and forgot the basics of hand to hand."
