Test Drive Meme - July/August

Welcome to sunny Alola! The sun is shining, and it is July! Which means it is the warmest, most tourist-y days of the year! And that means it is fun in the sun and there is plenty to do. As the summer days are out and the Pokemon School has yet to officially begin its school year, let’s give you some orientation prompts for the area.
1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!
2. The Sandy Beaches
Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long, tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!
3. Shopping
What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.
4. Pokemon!
Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.
5. Travel
There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.
6. Battle
What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.
7. Freeform
Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

[Ash shook his head.] They're testing our strength, but also it's a rite of adulthood, passage of time and strength and how far we've come as people.
They're... [Ash considered his words.] They're praying for the guidance to give us the strength to move forward in our lives. Does that make sense?
no subject
But he's been figuring his way out through college by this point, so he kinda gets what Ash is telling him - although it is kinda weird hearing this from someone potentially younger than him. You sounded wise for a second there, Ashy-boy!]
So, this battle is meant to be something you learn from?
[Sena's eyes glint in curiosity.]
It sounds like something you'd do if you wanted to find yourself...does that mean they battle differently from the gym leaders? Have different strategies or something?
no subject
[There's a faraway look in Ash's eyes as he says,] If you ever battle the Kahunas... you'll find out what it is. There's a passion there, something different from a Gym Battle. It's not the straight up style of a Gym, not the knock-down competition of win or lose but...
It's beautiful, a dance and then... the Z. The Z flows in time with the power of the fight, and at that bright, gleaming moment? When all seems perfect, you join with your Pokemon and unleash a Z-Move and everything becomes clear and crystal and it's like bang and zoom and nyowww and you feel whole again.
[Ash grinned widely.] That's what Alola gives battling! That's what makes Alola so special!
no subject
[You lost him there. Nyaow? What?]
It...It sounds interesting...
no subject
You really have to see it to believe it!

[Sena looks like he's thinking seriously about this.]
I wasn't originally part of the Pokemon World, but I kept coming back to visit because it had new ways to push my limits. That's kinda why I did the Sinnoh gym challenge too, even though I'm not really a battler...
[Hum...]
If you're serious about these trials being different, then I'd like to see that too! I want to see how far I can go...and then go beyond that! That's what these trials let us do, right?
no subject
I think you'll have fun, Sena!
no subject
[He hasn't seen one of those before.]
Is it like...some kind of secret technique or something?
no subject
[He held up a Lycanium-Z which was Diamond-shaped with two little prongs on either end.]
They plug into the band and you use them in battle. But to use them is a lot of Z-Energy, and when you start out, it costs a lot of Z-Energy. Most trainers are only able to use one starting out, and a lot of them fail their first try! Pikachu!
Pika?
Let's show Sena a Z-Move! You don't mind, right? We'll demonstrate on that rock there. [Ash pointed to the rocky outcropping on the beach a few yards away.]
no subject
Iiin...?
[Oh, Monta's interested too. With that reaction, how can Sena say no even if he wanted to?]
Go ahead! I think it's one of those things that's better to show than tell about, huh?
no subject
[Pikachu joined him at the rock and he swapped for a Steelium-Z as he crossed his arms.] Okay lets go Pikachu!
[Flaring with literal power, Ash and Pikachu moved in a set of swift poses as he exclaimed,] This is our full power! CORKSCREW CRASH!
[Pikachu exclaimed,] Pika pi! [As literal light lanced forward from Ash, striking him and a symbol flared as he leaped into the air and he barreled forward in a spinning drill, slamming into the rock -- and for a moment crashed right through the rock leaving a perfect circle as the rock crumbled inwards and Pikachu landed safely on the other side.]
How's that?
no subject
[how does that even work? But all questions are wiped from his mind as he watches the coordinated posing - almost like a dance, Ash had said, and Sena can't help but think he's right.]
Amazing...so you can use that kind of move to do things you normally can't, huh...
[He's never seen a Pikachu drill through solid rock before, anyways. That's more of a Excadrill kinda thing.]
But...um, it seems like it takes a lot of time to do? You have to do the chanting and the dance and everything?
[For a fast guy like him, it seems...inefficient? Easy to read?
sorry he's been trained by hiruma so]no subject
Z-moves require a base technique and then you can do a Z-move to correspond with the Z-move which is a powered up major form of it, and then pose enables the move, which channels the Z- Power through it. That's how I was taught.
no subject
[Trying to imagine it sped up, is...making some pretty odd imagery in Sena's head. Somehow this translates to Ash dancing around with Pikachu before they combine into a giant drill that bores through an entire mountain.
It's probably not that extreme. Probably. Maybe.]
So it's kinda like...an ace move you keep until the right moment, huh?
no subject
Think of it as a challenge to master a specific one, and move onto the next.
no subject
[Something like that.]
That brings back memories...
no subject
no subject
[That sounds like you'd have to put a lot of work into it...Didn't you say that kind of thing was hard?]

[Okay, maybe that's not such a ridiculous concept after all. He can at least imagine the Tapus and the Radiant One being hard to take down, anyways.]
