He pictures a normal bird hatching and immediately gobbling up all the candy. The resulting mental image of a horribly obese chicken is not at all terrifying so he's able to relax. He could outrun something like that with no problems.

"That sounds quite...exciting. I can't say I've ever witness an egg hatch like that."

He's quite sure he's never witnessed an egg hatch at all, come to think of it.
