Katsuya watches. He watches and intermittently his eyes lose focus, as if seeing something else that isn't there. A memory of something that happened to him, but from another angle, from another place. A shade with no face, clawing at themselves as Something Else hisses words in their ear.
Without realizing it, without realizing the relevance even, he stands up from his seat- as if struck by lightning, looking to the spirit with a strange unplaced horror as his heart begins to race. In the back of his mind he hears the screams as his hair is grabbed, hears them cursing his Name as the Priest and his soldiers laugh, unaware that the only one who will leave this place alive is the one who led them down. Only one will have the last laugh, and it will not last long, not at all, and-
And his eyes regain focus from a much longer stint, and Katsuya realizes it's only going to get worse.
He takes a step back- he is forced forward, two steps forward, and then pulled upright by the man with a jackal's grin-
He takes another, recognition flashing in and out and in and at least one will live, he knows this well enough, he told them it was hide and seek, to stay hidden until sundown and after sundown it'll be too late to find them here, he-
"I..."
What connects the screams to the shadows, he wants to ask. What connects them, he knew he was hearing Those People eventually, but how did the other know, how did-
"...kh..."
He doesn't think anymore. His breathing heavy, he blindly grasps the ponyta beside him and wheezes-
"K'seri..!"
Before he can really collapse, the ponyta is moving with almost practiced ease- rapidly pulling her trainer more over her back, and turning to try and make their escape.
It's ultimately up to the spirit if he wants to bother following.
