Game Locations!

In Alola, there are many areas of interest for the visitor to see. From its splendid beaches, wonderful natural habitats and marvelous skies, there is a sight to all to see. For the Fallers, there are many key interesting points of note that might also be of note. Some of these are noteworthy here on the four Islands, and Aether Paradise.

Melemele Island

Hao’oli City
The main city setting of the Anime, this is where all the action is. Everything that happens, is here. Technically speaking, everything from the shopping to the tourism, to the beaches, the shopping mall, the smaller roadside shops and everything else is bundled into this place, including Kukui’s Beach house, Lana’s home, Mallow’s Aina Restaurant, Sophocles Home, the Pokemon School and the airport and seaports. From here, you can find everything you need, and this is where the vast majority of the setting of Fallers will be located. For Year 1 of Fallers, travel will be mostly centralized to this location.

Tapu Koko’s Forest
The largest of the four islands and a popular tourist destination site of the four, Melemele island is under the guardianship of Tapu Koko and the stewardship of its Island King, the Kahuna, Hala. Hala administers the Grand Trial to those who would pass it, a rite of passage that would wield the Z, which is a sacred bond of trust and power between man, nature and Pokemon in this region.

Tapu Koko appears to those who it finds interesting, and has been said since the olden days to challenging islanders to Pokemon battles, or to Alolan sumo wrestling matches.

The Sacred Trial Areas: Melemele Island

Over the centuries since the Radiant One filled the land of Alola with light, the Island Kahuna have prayed to the Tapus for guidance before a challenger. This is a sacred ceremony, one that is not taken lightly. Unlike Gym Battles of the West or East, the Grand Trials are a religious ceremony of rites that have great respect in the culture of Alola. And should be determined with great respect, and trust between Pokemon and Pilgrimage Challenger. No potions or revives are ever used in these battles, as custom in the nature of the Anime, but have given great respect to the strength the individuals in combat.

Here, the Island Kahuna, King or Queen, prays for guidance before they embark on a battle against their challenger. This can take up to 1 or 2 Pokemon, perhaps 3 if they decide on how the King or Queen feels fit to challenge the opponent. Their Trial is to conduct the way they wish. Even if it seems questionable in their own tactics. Each kahuna has their own area. For Hala, this means an area near his own home up near the hills of his own Z-Ring workshop.

Aina’s Kitchen

The top quality restaurant of the town, with the loveliest mascot, Aina’s Kitchen. It’s been Mallow’s long dream to make this restaurant a place where anyone can come to eat and relax after a long eventful day. Here, her family makes their home and cares for everyone who walks into their doors. The interior is full of delicious foods; all with their own care and unique taste and delicious meals to try. Anything can be tasted here, and the menu is always in flux as Mallow tries different and new things all the time with different recipes. Their most popular menu item is the Pinap Juice, a recipe her father is known for as it comes from the Master, an Oranguru who lives deep in the woods, and all ingredients are locally sourced.

Orangutan’s Cafe

Speaking of the cafe, Oranguru’s Cafe is also a popular spot for locals. A sort of special tucked away area for those who know it, Oranguru’s Cafe is a Pokemon run cafe in the middle of the forest which boasts incredible juices. A place of solitude and rest and recovery, its clientele is for the weary and relaxed. It is not a place for those who would make trouble. Some of its most popular dishes are sourced from the local Bewear who provides honey for the food who gives Juice in reply as payment. A fair trade. The food served here is top notch, and Oranguru is known as one of the best cooks on the Island.

Bewear’s Tree Home

Bewear’s tree home and the home of Team Rocket in extension. Bewear makes this place her home, and subsequently with Stufful, her child, and Team Rocket who might give you all a passing glare if you’re intruding on their things poking at their stuff while they’re out. If you are making a fuss on the island, this is where you will be brought to, to time out and be held for, for 24 hours in game. Where you will be doted on, and fed honey and not be allowed to leave.

Markets

The Markets of Melemele are a bustling place, full of native islanders and tourists alike. It hosts a vast population of people, and here you can find the markets who are shockingly free with their produce. They invite you for samples, allow you to watch their musical numbers and native dance, feed you free berries and fruit, and even give away their produce to the local Pokemon and children who come by. The shopkeepers live by a creed that all are one in this world, and the markets reflect this. If you are starving and have no money, see miss Anela, she will give you a basket of fruit to feed yourself and your friends. No charge.

Pokemon School

On a high part of the town, sits the Pokemon School. Founded 20 years ago by Samson Oak, cousin of Professor Samuel Oak, this year it is celebrating its 21st Anniversary. The Pokemon School does more than just teach the academic courses of the Pokemon World, math, physics, sciences, biology, languages, religion and others, but also offer trips into the field as well as activities such as introducing those unfamiliar with concepts such as PokeBase, PokeGolf, Pokemon sports, field trips to different locations, and many other sorts of activities on hand. It is a very active school life and it is encouraged for Fallers who are interested in learning about the world they now live in, to attend the community courses set up by Principal Samson. Also, below, there is a surprise.

1a. The Ultra Guardians

Commander Lusamine has organized a first response team a year ago after she was rescued from Ultra Space, based around the idea of a Sentai Team. Donning Ride Outfits and wielding specialized catching gear, this team is known as the Ultra Guardians. Now with them entering another school year, they have more time to do their studies which means the Torch Might Need To Be Passed to the Fallers. And one of their members, Ash Ketchum is starting to get itchy on the need to travel once more.

The Ultra Command is situated below the school where Clefable has an army of loyal Meltan in line to keep the base operational and running. From here, Ultra Guardians are dispatched to recover the Fallers and help them adjust into society.

Team Rocket’s Donut Van

This highly mobile donut vehicle is seen everywhere on the island. Team Rocket has set up shop here in Alola, to presumably conquer it for their boss Giovanni and to show up his secretary and uppity Alolan Meowth. They also participated in the first Alolan League Championships so they are surprisingly NOT pushovers this time around. They are tough this round, and will give you quite the fight if you actually challenge them to a battle. Any attempts at actual sabotage will earn you the wrath of Bewear however.

Goodwill can be bought from purchases of Bewear Honey Donuts. They are delicious.

Pokemon Center

The Pokemon Center has its own place for tired people to rest, a place to sleep if you’re out of town and need a night’s rest and are a registered trainer or Faller, and it even has its own gift shop as well. Nurse Joy is a good friend of everyone on the island, and cares for everyone’s Pokemon in the islands. She is always on call, and rarely gets sick. She is best friends with the local Jenny, and they often go out for drinks together. You can find the Pokemon School kids often helping out here in their spare time whenever Joy is busy. Try not to get too hurt, since your wounds from shenanigans can also be treated here in the Pokemon Center.

Clawmark Hill

A place where Pokemon gather to battle, and grow strong. If your Pokemon is running off suddenly and coming back injured? This is where it’s going. Follow it and encourage it, watch it grow and train with it. Let it become the strong, and powerful Pokemon it desires to be. Clawmark Hill is a rite of passage for the young Pokemon of this region, like it’s own Grand Trials just for Pokemon, no trainers commanding them. Just them and the local Pokemon.

Bamboo Hill

A beautiful bamboo copse where bamboo naturally grows, having been transplanted there from Johto years ago. It was here that the Ultra Beast Celesteela dug itself into the ground and took root for centuries until it awoke and prepared to go into space, but doing so would have literally burnt Melemele to the ground. It was thanks to the Ultra Guardians that the region didn’t catch fire. Though the Bamboo grove is somewhat damaged now, it is still fairly beautiful and recovering.

Many Other Locations

There are plenty of other locations in Melemele to choose from, from the Golf Courses, to the beaches and the surfing areas and the shopping centers. There is a ton of things to see and do, and more will be added when the places become relevant over time!

AKALA ISLAND

The Sacred Mountain Wela, gives life to the region. From its bounty, everything grows. Akala Island is about 90% farmland, and provides almost all of the region’s produce and dairy. It is said to have been blessed by the rich volcanic soil, and the people live in awe and respect of Wela’s sacred power. Kiawe’s grandfather was the previous Kahuna before passing the torch down to Olivia, and by rites the title of Kahuna does not pass down until death. A fact that the natives know best, and respect. From life to death, the cycle continues in this world, and everything and everyone is one in Alola. Akala is also very much in danger of being bulldozed by a greedy industrialist named Viren who seeks to pave everything over in the name of Rainbow Happy Resorts, and often forcibly tries to buy out people.

Kiawe’s Farm

A vast Pokemon resource and dairy farm, Kiawe and his family ranch hands care for the Pokemon on their ranch. It is a ranch where they produce some of the best dairy, and Kiawe delivers many things each morning on a tight schedule while the rest is shipped out by truck or boat. The farm is known for its soft serve ice cream, which you can purchase there directly, and a bonus might be given if you decide to work there for the day. The farm itself is rich with volcanic soil, a blessing of Wela Volcano, which the family holds in reverence for its spiritual nature.

The Volcanic Mines

Home to a Golem and his Followers, the Sparkstone mines are a magnetic stone mine that was dug up recently by greedy men and women who were trying to make a quick buck. With profit in mind, they stole the sparkstones, the food of the Alolan Golems, and drove them above ground, causing abnormal magnetic pressure in the area. Thanks to the efforts of the Ultra Guardians, things were set to normal. Today, it is a tourist area, guided by the three Hiker Brothers who know the mountain inside and out, deputized by Olivia, the Island Queen of Akala Island.

The Island Crown Shrine

A powerful sacred place, where a crown of power sits. A crown forged by the ancient heat of Wela, this crown is said to amplify the power of any Fire Pokemon, or any Pokemon who has spirit in their hearts to a stronger tier of power whoever wears it. Twice a year, when the sun becomes hot and the strength of Fire is hottest in the region, Olivia beckons all the people of the land to come to Wela to wear the crown. There is usually a line up for hours. Nearby, surrounded by greenery, Olivia’s Sacred Battle Site sits, overseeing a cliff. It is here where you can conduct a battle with her, to be judged fairly by a third party as always to pass your trial.

Battle Royal Dome

Here, the Battle Royal is being held on a regular basis! From here, the reigning champion Royal Mask fights to defend his title, holding the title of the strongest Pokemon Trainer on Alola currently. Or so they say. With his trademark of Enjoy, Royal Mask has been a Pokemon Trainer for many years with his flashy mysterious strength and his dark heel Pokemon Incineroar. There have been many attempts to dethrone him, but none have come close thus far. His rivals are many in this ring. Step into it, if you dare challenge him!

Wela Volcano Park

A mountain park trail on the western side of Wela Volcano. It is a favorite site of Kiawe as it is a place of solitude and relaxation and fond memories. Olivia often travels this road to the Island Crown Shrine, as she journeys between it, and the Sacred Battle Area of Wela Volcano where the Grand Trial is held for Pilgrimage Takers. Here, the Hiker Brothers patrol the area, looking out for travelers, poachers, and other troubles that might disturb the natural beauty of Wela.

Pokemon Paradise Resort

A resort with hard-to-get exclusive reservations long in advance, those who do well for the people who they work for can get tickets to this relaxing resort of comfort and rest. Here, you can participate in activities of rest, recharge, and slumber. Hot springs, massages, pampering, food, and other activities are available for those who require a day to themselves can be yours for a welcome visit. The fee is surprisingly low, even with it’s exclusive reservation wait time as its clientele is over 60% Pokemon and 40% humans.

ULA’ULA ISLAND

Ula’Ula Island boasts the tallest mountain in the region, as well as a diverse economy and a thriving resort. It is known for its economy, as well as its surprising literal diverse regional climate. From deserts to a snowy mountain, this place has it all. However, its biggest town, Po town has a questionable clientele, even for Alola, and might draw in some stranger Fallers than usual… But that just might be because it gives off an aura of Ghosts after all. Nanu might be able to explain it better, but he’s way too lazy to explain it. Talk to Acerola at the library -- she can explain everything.

Acerola's Library

An important historical Library, Acerola's Library tells all of the regional, and some non-regional stories. Anything you want to know is in this library about the region, the tales of this world, and others. Some histories and mythologies are rooted in this land. And there's many things you can find here. Lately, she's been getting in more books, many more than she could possibly need.

Po Town

A once shabby run down town of nothing of sort with high walls, once used as a sea breakers town before being abandoned to its own devices, Guzma and Team Skull spent their days in here at the Shady House. Now, Po Town has begun seing new clean up work from Team Skull who has decided to turn it into a Battle Area. A large battle area has been created in front of the Shady House for training, as well as means of gardening and support for themselves to make a life for themselves in this new world for Team Skull. Guzma stands atop Team Skull, a newly changed man after the events of the Pokemon League and takes on apprentices into Team Skull on request of Kukui and Hala for whatever reason he deems worth it. His training style is harsh but fair, and will break down the walls of society of their own making. The walls of Po Town are decorated with amazing graffiti of Guzma's numerous losses and battles, and is filling up with Team Skull's own battle records as a visual record. Inside the Shady House, one will find the walls cleaned up, the damaged furniture being piled up and repaired or broken down for scrap, Guzma's trophies lovingly displayed on the mantle with his fourth place trophy proudly in the middle of the entire thing.

Hokulani Observatory

Here, Sophocles’ cousin Molayne runs the observatory. From the tall peak of Mount Hokulani, you can see for miles and view the stars on a clear night. And once a year, you can experience the life cycle of the Pokemon Minior -- a sad, but beautiful event -- as they fall from space to the earth. This is where Sophocles learned a valuable lesson about life and death, and passing on the lessons of Alola to the next generation, as with Ash’s Poipole. There is also a location nearby called Starfall Hill, where you can see the Minior who have fallen on occasion to earth, but please try not to catch them, for their life is fleeting in this world, and will vanish within 24 hours as their lives run out.

Haina Desert and the Ruins of Abundance

Those who wish to travel the Desert can do so, but you must travel via Ride Pokemon to even stand a chance to do so. Travel is only for the strongest, and most recommended of travelers, who wish to encounter the Tapu of this land at the Ruins of Abundance. At the very top of the Ruins of Abundance, Tapu Bulu sleeps, too lazy to help those unless they prove themselves worthy of his attention. But if you do manage to capture his attention? Be noted that he will give you his blessing, and take certain interest in your progress as a Faller or a Native, as will the other Tapus who have different personalities and aspects to them. These ruins also serve as the battle site of the Grand Trial with Nanu, the local Island King, or Kahuna, who works out of the local police station. Be warned he will not go easy on you, and employs underhanded techniques to try and demoralize you early on into a bad mental state, as his theme is a Dark Type opponent.

Mount Lanakila

To those who might fall from a parallel Alola, this may be the site of the Pokemon League. But to others, it is a site of recreation! Mount Lanakila is a place of recreation, and fun. From here, you can do many things, such as participating in the Pokemon Sled Jump Games held every couple of months, travel through icicle caves with a guide to meet the Totem Pokemon of the area, and legend has it that it used to be part of the Grand Trials where trainers would travel to the top of the mountain to do battle. What a silly notion. Like any idiot would go to the top of a mountain to wait for someone to do battle. What sort of nimrod would lurk at the top of a mountain for years… *cough*

Malie City
The central hub of Ula'Ula island, people can come to it as a major tourist attraction and live here as well. There is much to see and do and it is influenced by traditional Kanto culture, through a lens of course. Kimono, Kanto fashion and architecture is all found on this island's city. Here, you can actually participate in a Kanto-inspired Gym battle, where you compete in challenges up a tower until you battle the Gym Leader.

PONI ISLAND

The smallest of the four islands and one of the most spiritual, Poni Island boasts itself on its economy but also its mysticism. Tied closely with the Pokemon of Water, Tapu Fini, Tapu Fini enshrouds people who are clinging to old memories and pasts in her mists, and makes them face their past in the form of dead loved ones who they have yet to say goodbye to. The mists of Tapu Fini are a powerful ability, and can enshroud dozens of people at one time, making it unpredictable, as her power is great and wide across the island at points in the day if need be.

Vast Poni Canyon/Altar of the Sunne

Vast Poni Canyon is a large canyon that leads up to the area towards the Altar of the Sunne. It is a major natural formation, home to several species of Pokemon who fiercely guard their territory. If you were to travel to the Altar on foot, you must traverse not only the natural defenses, but also the Totem Pokemon who guard it -- Kommo-o.

A sacred location to the lore and religion of Alola, this sacred site depicts a mural which shows the creation of Alola, as well as the birth of Solgaleo and Lunala. It also depicts several stories of the Radiant One, who was later revealed to be a powerful Pokemon known as Necrozma. The creator of the region of Alola who came from the world that Poipole came from. It was here that the children who became the Ultra Guardians, broke through the dimensional barrier for the first time, causing the Ultra Holes to begin to start opening up after the First Alola Pokemon League with the appearance of the first Fallers.

Seafolk Village

A quiet, seaside port town where people take port when they first arrive in Poni Island, this port town is the central hub of Poni Island where produce and commerce go hand in hand. From here, locals called seafolk ply their trade in goods, services, fishing, and other foods Their main import is the famous Poni Radishes, a spicy radish that grows locally only on Poni Island and is best grown by the local Kahuna, Hapu the Island Queen. Hapu grows the best Radishes and can be seen to purchase them when need be.

Ruins of Hope

A sacred ground, home to Tapu Fini. This place is a sacred spot for the Tapu, who lives underwater for most of the time, until low tide, where this shrine is accessible. There, one can pray for guidance to the Tapu. As with all of the Tapus, they will answer if need be, depending on how they see fit to answer the prayer at the Shrine. Nearby, the Sacred Challenge Area is also accessible at low tide, and it is here that Hapu prays to the Guardian Deity before one battles for the trials ahead. Remember to respect the rules, especially in Poni Island. It is even more dangerous not to.

AETHER PARADISE

A literal paradise, Aether Paradise is a wonderful place for Pokemon to live, thrive and be rescued from bad situations. Those who need care and rehabilitation are often found here in this habitat, being cared for by their loving staff who have literally no intention of keeping them here if they do not want to be here. Aether’s staff are all upright people -- with some slight checkered pasts *cough* it’s not all perfect, but on the whole, we’ve done fine work for ourselves. Founded by Mohs and Lusamine, Aether Paradise focuses on two things -- Rehabilitation of Pokemon and the research into Ultra Holes and the defense against Ultra Beasts.

And most recently, helping Fallers recover from the shock of being transported across time and space.

OVERWATCH BASE: SWITZERLAND

Unknown to the Fallers, Ultra Holes had also been opening up in other worlds as well. Connected to these Ultra Holes through Time and Space, the World aided by the heroes of Overwatch has been under fire from the Ultra Beasts. Fighting against the Omnics has ceased entirely in favor for defeating the Ultra Beast invasions which occur.

Through the united efforts of the Overwatch members, they have established and pinpointed a link to the Pokemon World, and have sent a representative along with a small contingent of goodwill relief workers to help repair and establish good intentions with the natives of Alola. Led by Dr. Angela Mercy, these Overwatch members work through the General Hospital of Melemele Island.

Fallers and Authorized Citizens can travel through the functioning Ultra Gate which has been built and established on Aether Paradise.
