Test Drive Meme - July/August

Welcome to sunny Alola! The sun is shining, and it is July! Which means it is the warmest, most tourist-y days of the year! And that means it is fun in the sun and there is plenty to do. As the summer days are out and the Pokemon School has yet to officially begin its school year, let’s give you some orientation prompts for the area.



1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!


2. The Sandy Beaches

Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long,tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!


3. Shopping

What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.


4. Pokemon!

Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.


5. Travel

There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.


6. Battle

What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.


7. Freeform

Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

Arrival

What the? What kind of world is this, and how did I get here?

[She waves a hand, and seems surprised when nothing happens.]

Oookay, Corridor of Darkness is a no-go. Hey, you! Where is this?

Pokemon

[A rustling of the bushes gets Elrena's attention, knives appearing in her hand with a crackle of lightning. Her stance breaks a bit when a little brown fox-like creature hops out of the foliage.]

Vuii!

...What? That thing hardly seems dangerous.

Battle!

[It looks like Elrena managed to get on the bad side of a school of Wishywashi. She's hardly intimidated by the swarm, letting out a high pitched giggle at the attempt at strength in numbers.]

Well, looks like I'll get a chance to sample the local seafood!

[Lightning arcs from her hand to the pokemon, zapping the whole school. She isn't holding back at all, and the Wishywashi quickly faints.]

[Corridor....of Darkness??

Note to self, don't do any training with shadows in this one's range? A fairly tall woman nearby raises an eyebrow from where she only barely overheard things, and internally grimaces when she additionally realizes she's the one being addressed.

Oh, Bugger.] Eh...Ahhh...Alola, [she answers. And greets.] ...Did you...get caught by a large 'bear' creature, perhaps..?

[Trust her this makes sense.]

That's about the short of it. What was that thing? It didn't look like a Heartless, Nobody, or Dream Eater.

[She gestures a lot as she speaks. If someone got too close without her noticing somehow, they'd be likely to get smacked.]

Pokemon. Ah...are 'Heartless' and similar the fauna of your own realm perhaps? [Odd names- she doesn't like the sound of Dream Eater, on that note. But anyway.] Pokemon appear to be the fauna here- replacing typical animals, or even plants at some points...

Some of them even take the appearance of inanimate objects. [It's all very neat, and makes her think of the Shadows at home.]

Not really. Heartless are the exact opposite of what they sound like, people whose heart has been overwhelmed by Darkness. Nobodies are the empty shell left behind, and Dream Eaters are... complicated. Anyway, I've never heard of anything like these "Pokemon" before.

Hmnh..? [Well. That has Yuume's attention.] Is...Darkness not merely an elemental association where you come from, then..? [Or 'Dark', rather, but she digresses.]

I hadn't either- they're unique to where we are now it seems. Thus far, anyone who's 'fallen' seems to have a fairly unique world-base so to speak.

Oh, not at all. Where I come from, Darkness is the result of all the nasty feelings that rose up in people's hearts. Anger, sadness, jealousy, they all contributed to make it. And if a World has too much Darkness swirling around? Poof! No more World, and anyone who doesn't escape becomes a Heartless too.

But it's strange, I'm not sensing even a hint of it in this World. That shouldn't be possible.

[shadowslipping]

[....Gotta. Give a slow blink of alarm at that.] I...I see...

...It could be that your worlds are akin to the dimensions from where I was; individual 'worlds' of their own, but connected by a certain set of laws to reality, [Yuume offers.] Things here should be impossible within my own realm as well- to that end, I can't even access the things I could from the 'worlds' at home...

...Perhaps a world without that specific 'darkness', while remaining a world with such feelings is possible because of that.

Are you saying that I've been pulled into an entirely different dimension? Well, that's going to put a damper on my plans. Still, it might be nice to take a vacation until I can find a way to get back to my own universe.

They are working on it at least... [she assures the other with a nervous laugh.] But that's effectively what happened, yes...

The locals are fairly kind though; as you said, it's not a bad vacation option, neh?

I really couldn't care less about the locals. The Pokemon may be interesting, though. I'm pretty sure I saw one that looked like a mouse shoot lightning.

....Aah, that's typical here.

...

So you...intend to camp across the island then..? [Squinting...]

Right, right. Humans need food, almost forgot it's been so long. I guess I'll have to talk to some of the locals then.

Battle

[Hey.

You're abusing your power.

There's a massive shadow looming over you now.]

KEEEEEEEEEEEE!

What? It attacked me! Are you saying I should have just let it Waterga me or something?

[Bewear looms at her, giving her the eye. You shouldn't try to EAT them. Besides, there's a rule here about using your full power on things here. Your Partner Pokemon should be coming here soon.

Bewear is inclined to let you off with a warning, but no trying to eat the Pokemon.]

Fine, fine, I was joking about eating those fish sticks anyway.

[Bewear points to the Pokemon Center. Take the Fainted Pokemon to Joy first before you are forgiven. And then make sure to keep clean before then.

Then, we'll see about getting you a Pokemon to train with.]

Alright, whatever. Don't see why I have to take care of it when it attacked me, but I guess I'll follow the rules.

[Bewear makes a gesture, indicating she'll talk to the WishiWashi. For now, they'll escort the pair of them towards the Pokemon Center.

... Which means hoisting the pair under her arms.]

[Yeah, no. Elrena dashes away from the grab attempt in a move not dissimilar to Volt Tackle.]

Whoa, paws off there. I can walk just fine on my own, thanks.

[fallers_npcs]

[Silently, Bewear nods, and hoists the Wishiwashi under her arm as she gestures down the road.

It's that way.]

Kuuuu.

Got it. And while I'm doing that, I'm going to explore a little more.

[Elrena used Double Team! By which I mean she actually splits off a copy of herself that heads out in another direction.]

[Bewear is tempted to use Double Team herself to go after the duplicate, but decides giving Elrena a little space is more healthy than anything else.

As long as they care for the Wishiwashi, it's fine.

They make their trek to the Pokemon Center, and she shows her inside.] Kuu, [she said, offering the Pokemon to her, telling her to bring it up to Joy at the front desk.]

Hey, Nurse. I've got a dumb fish that tried to pick a fight here. Unfortunately for it, water and lightning don't mix well.
