Test Drive Meme - July/August

Welcome to sunny Alola! The sun is shining, and it is July! Which means it is the warmest, most tourist-y days of the year! And that means it is fun in the sun and there is plenty to do. As the summer days are out and the Pokemon School has yet to officially begin its school year, let’s give you some orientation prompts for the area.



1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!


2. The Sandy Beaches

Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long,tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!


3. Shopping

What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.


4. Pokemon!

Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.


5. Travel

There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.


6. Battle

What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.


7. Freeform

Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

The Sandy Beaches

Ever since Ellen arrived in this new world, she'd been keeping to herself, pretty much on Cure Beat mode the entire time. She just didn't trust this world at first, no matter what was being shown to her. However, the sight of the beach, the people and the Pokemon enjoying themselves in the sand and surf... she just had to join in!

You've probably just witnessed a magical girl grab and toss off her entire costume and reveal an adorable one piece underneath (how? Magic? *shrugs*) and run off to enjoy the beaches herself!

"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Ellen bolted from the forest she had wandered from, a Haunter slowly following her. It laughed as she dived behind a rock, then peeked over it while pointing at the Pokemon.

"G-Give me that back, then go away!" she shouted. In the Haunter's hand was Ellen's Cure Module - seems the ghost Pokemon took it while she was scared stiff. "Now! Please!"

She's not living this down.

Kaiba was very much Not Impressed with anything that's happening here. The bizarre floating purple creature carrying that little trinket was no exception, and he gave the trinket's owner an unimpressed Look.

"It's a ghost type, isn't it? Try a dark attack."

He'd attended this 'school' long enough to learn that, of course

"What?!" Ellen said, blinking. "I don't have any Pokemon with me! I just came out here and that thing showed up and--!"

And the Haunter laughs again. It might be Ellen's chosen Pokemon or she just has really bad luck

"To steal from a human unprovoked..." Well, there's another mark against this world. He frowns at it.

"I don't have one either. But you can't attack it, it might just be a loss. Unless you can scare it into dropping it."

[hearts_beat]

"Ehhh...." Ellen doesn't want it to be a loss. She needs it to be a Pretty Cure! But... it's a ghost.

"I guess... I can try to scare it..." And as she goes up to it, arms raised...

...only for the Haunter to hit her with Lick

Well that was expected. Kaiba steps back, then draws his shoulders up and uses his most commanding voice.

"Drop it!"

Naturally, that gets another lick. He topples off-balance from the slightly paralysis, crumpling into an angry heap. He hisses as he makes a futile attempt to regain his dignity.

"Y---you'll have to catch something, then. Some bugs have psychic moves."

There's another person there, though she's not for fun. Lusamine stepped out of the helicopter, following the tracker. Another Ultra Hole had opened up and she followed the surprisingly strong reading since everyone was off picking up more Fallers when she noticed the magical girl toss off her outfit for the swimsuit.

"There's something you don't see every say," she said with a chuckle, stepping onto the beach as she follows. "Hello!"

"Ah!" Ellen jumped a bit as she realized she was watched. "Ah... h-hello! Sorry! I was, ah... a little excited."

"It's quite all right," said Lusamine, holding up her hands in a placating gesture. "I come in peace. I'm President Lusamine, of the Aether Foundation. I came tracking an Ultra Hole and I came across the signal left behind and I found you here. i put two and two together and figured out that you were the new Faller."

She smiled as she tucked the device away into her bag as she said, "Alola, and welcome to the Alola Region."

"Ah... y-yes, I guess that's what I am?" Ellen said, grinning sheepishly. "I came here awhile back and I've been keeping to myself until now..."

"Though... "Alola Region"? Is that where I am now? Another world?"

"And you've been living by yourself?" asked Lusamine. "Dear that won't do at all."

"The Alola Region is a tropical paradise, a wonderful place of Pokemon and Humans and Natural Beauty. Lately, people and other things have been falling through Ultra Holes. We call these people: Fallers."

Lusamine sighed. "My corporation is helping people recover from being alone right now. If you'll let me, I can get you onto your feet, as with the rest of the Fallers we recover."

"...no tricks, right?" Ellen asked, a little worried. "Any tricks and I'll make sure it was a mistake."

She hates to escalate things, but she's still a little worried about all of this. New world, new people....

Lusamine smiled as she shook her head. "No tricks. I promise. Actually, there's a famous pancake shop just up the road. Would you like some of their famous Alola Pancakes? They're stacked about five to seven tall right now. My treat."

"Actually, I am hungry! Let me get my stuff first!" Ellen said, running back to get her uniform and running back to join Lusamine.

Lusamine nodded. "Take your time, I need to call Wicke."

As Ellen headed to get her things, she dialed a number on one of her many phones and made a call. "Yes, Wicke? I found our abnormally strong Faller. Yes, have a team out here and get some readings on the area. It's okay, she's not hostile, and it's not an Ultra Beast. Thank you. I'll be all right, we're just going for pancakes. Yes, I'll bring some back with me for you and Burnet. Faba too. Okay, love you."

Hanging up, she gestured to Ellen towards the helicopter. "Shall we? We're in a fairly remote part of the island you know, I had to take a personal copter to get here, so we'll need to land in the main road to drop off at Nina's place."

As Ellen came back with her gear, she blinked as she saw Lusamine talking on the phone, but dismissed it - it was probably something else she needed to do. However, hearing her talk about the helicopter caught her by surprise.

"I'd ask if we'd attract people, but that would be a bit redundant..." she said.

"When you're the president of the biggest corporation in the entire Region, I can get away with parking my helicopter anywhere," replied Lusamine with a little smile, as she gestured Ellen inside. "Here, buckle up."

Ellen giggled at that before hopping in, setting her outfit aside as she sat down and buckled up.

"That really sounds useful." Ellen admitted.

As the helicopter took off, Lusamine smiled as it headed over. A few short minutes later, it was landing in the pad near the shopping center designated for the Aether Corp as the blades whirled to a stop and she got out, unbuckling Ellen. "There it is," she said, gesturing to the restaurant.

"We're in luck, it's not the lunch rush."

"Oh, good!" Ellen said, hopping out of the helicopter. She looked back at her outfit briefly, but she was certain it would be safe there.

Pancakes await!

Once inside, they were seated fairly quickly as Lusamine and Ellen found themselves at a window table, and menus were handed out. A woman by the name of Nina introduced herself, as she and her Alolan Raichu gestured to several specials on the menu, from towering fluffy Kelpsy pancakes to Syrup pancakes.

"I'll have the cream-and-Iapapa." said Lusamine. "With some coffee please. The bill goes to the Aether Foundation as well today."

"And for you?" Nina asked Ellen.

"Ohh..." Ellen's eyes wandered over the collection of specials. Both kinds of pancakes offered looked really good, but...

"...the Kelpsy pancakes, please! Orange juice, too, if you have it!"

Milk seems too silly right now!

"We'll be out in a second then," said Nina, bustling to the back with their order as Lusamine smiled.

"Some good food should give you the energy to think about your next move," said Lusamine. "We'll be working on finding your Ultra Hole if you wish to go home, but circumstances being, you're welcome to stay. A lot of Fallers have recently opted to stay here in our world and we're glad to put them up. The shock of traveling between Ultra Space unabated without a Legendary to guide them can be a little disorienting at times."
